Every day life happenings.

Sam and Marissa Acuff

How would I describe today?
I was the first one to cry when Marissa put on her wedding dress, does that tell you anything?
I took Sam and Marissa's engagement photos earlier this year (see them here!), and they asked me to be present on this big day as well! It warms my heart so much to see people loving on each other the way their friends and family did today. Both of them have clearly blessed so many peoples' lives, and there were so many present to support their union.

Before the ceremony, right after the first look, Sam and Marissa read their vows to each other. It was tender and emotional, and I'm not gonna lie, I think I teared up then also (don't judge me, I love love, ok). Their love for each other is to be envied, and it was so wonderful to witness.

Huge thanks to the Miss Nicole Swann for being my right-hand-bro.

Before guests arrived, Marissa's family participated in a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. It is a custom that formally includes the bride and groom showing respect to their family members. It shows how the couple respect their seniority. The parents will be served first, then the grandparents, grand uncles and aunts, uncles and aunts, and then elder siblings. After the tea has been drunk, gifts are given, typically money in red envelopes. It was very special to see Marissa's family serve in this way.

One of my favorite things that was said during the ceremony was a quote from The Michael Scott: "Would I rather be feared or loved? Easy. Both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me."
